ROCK-A-RAISE

We first heard of this “Tunnel to Towers” organization through reading frantic social media exchanges between friends the day after Hurricane Sandy hit. Where to volunteer? Where to get help? Who’s getting supplies out to those who need it most?

We kept hearing “Tunnel to Towers” in response. Then we found out that Tunnel to Towers channels 100% of the proceeds to the victims. And then we saw this post from Humans of New York, who helped raise $300,000 for TtT.

100% of the money we raise is going to the hurricane victims? SOLD.

Mitzy Sixx is the hot, hot mess of Seattle Burlesque. Since 2009, Sixx has left audiences screaming, laughing, and a little confused at times…but always on purpose.

Ladies and Gentlemen: we are pleased as punch to present to you: GAMS GALORE.

Gams Galore, That Glamorous Gal with The Golden Gullet, got her start in Miss Indigo Blue’s Academy of Burlesque and was one of the students featured in the documentary film “A Wink and A Smile.” Since then, Gams has developed her unique character by rewriting humorous and bawdy lyrics to classic oldies, then belting them out in her own inimitable style. Gams has been featured on several local comedy and improv shows and recently produced her own one-woman show. When she’s not performing, you can often find her hosting variety and burlesque shows around Seattle.

ERIN LODI: PHOTOGRAPHER

Erin is a Mobile Imaging Editor at dpreview.com. She is extremely fun and talented and we’re thrilled that not only is she coming to dance with us, but she is bringing her camera and will be photographing the awesome people and happenings at Rock-a-RAISE.

Erin is a photojournalist at heart, and she shoots in documentary style with flair. Erin photographs weddings, rock shows, engagement sessions and interesting people and places.

After some friends lost their home in the Rockaways, having to swim out of it to escape, a few of us in Seattle decided that we had to do something to help. But they said,”Help everyone, not just us.” So we decided to throw a seriously epic party.

Want to know what to expect at Rock-a-Raise? Well, it’ll be something like CONEY ISLAND BOARDWALK meets CBGBs PUNK SHOW meets STUDIO 54 meets THE FACTORY.

There is something in there for everyone. Me? I’m just torn between whether to channel my inner mermaid, Debbie Harry, Bianca Jagger on a horse, or Andy Warhol.
